Assam Govt Rolls Out ‘Niyut Moina 2.0’ in Tinsukia to Support Women’s Education

Under the scheme, eligible girl students will receive monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 for higher secondary, ₹1,250 for undergraduate, and ₹2,500 for postgraduate students.

GUWAHATI: In a move to boost women’s education, the Assam Government officially launched the ‘Chief Minister’s Niyut Moina 2.0’ scheme across 12 colleges in Tinsukia district on August 6. The application form distribution programme, which was conducted simultaneously in all participating colleges, marked a significant step towards empowering female students through financial aid.

Rupesh Gowala, Labour and Welfare Minister, attended as the chief guest at Doomdooma College, while Tinsukia MLA Sanjay Kishan led the event at Tinsukia College. Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma was present at Margherita College, Sadiya MLA Bolin Chetia at Sadiya College, Makum MLA Ponakan Baruah at Makum College, and Digboi MLA Suren Phukan at Digboi College.

The events began with a live broadcast of the central inauguration ceremony held at Gauhati University. Principals, faculty members, and students participated enthusiastically.

Under the scheme, eligible girl students will receive monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 for higher secondary, ₹1,250 for undergraduate, and ₹2,500 for postgraduate students. Applications must be submitted online by September 4, as informed by the District Information and Public Relations Office.

“We have renewed our tirade against child marriage. With the launch of Nijut Moina 2.0, four lakh girl students will save themselves from the scourge of child marriage while fulfilling their dreams of being academically empowered. We are committed to bring down child marriage to zero by 2026,” CM Sarma said on the occasion.
