TINSUKIA: An MoU was signed between Tinsukia district administration and officials of Tea gardens. Assam state Government has officially accepted the responsibility to convert 80 Tea Garden Hospitals and Health Centres in Tinsukia District to Ayushman Arogya Mandirs for delivering a comprehensive range of services spanning preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative care. The MoU signing event was held at the District Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday. Under this agreement, necessary provisions for free-of-cost medicines, diagnostics and other health facilities will be made available in the Tea Garden Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Along with infrastructural development, every Arogya Mandir will have a designated Community Health Officer under National Health Mission, Assam, who will work in close coordination with the Medical Officer of the Tea Garden Hospitals for better health service delivery.
This significant step towards strengthening the healthcare services in Tea Gardens was held in parallel along with the inaugural program in Guwahati where the State Government signed an MoU to convert 354 Tea Garden Hospitals to Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM-SC) in the presence of Ashok Singhal, Minister Health and Family Welfare, Assam and Rupesh Gowala Minister, Labour Welfare, Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare, Assam.
Swapneel Paul, Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia, stated that communities from tea garden and neighbouring areas will have access to better health services through this initiative and as such expected full cooperation from the tea garden management in its implementation. Additional Commissioner Chinmoy Pathak, Joint Director Health Dr Jayanta Bhattacharyya and Assistant Labour Commissioner Bhaskar Mili were present during the signing of the MoU. The second phase of Gunotsav, a programme designed by the State Government for qualitative improvement in the school education system of Assam that began on January 20 concluded successfully in Tinsukia on January 22.
Held under the supervision of Swapneel Paul, Deputy Commissioner and Kabita Deka Inspector of Schools cum District Mission Coordinator, Tinsukia, 1398 schools comprising Government, provincialized, Lower Primary, Upper primary, High and Higher Secondary, Tea Garden Model Schools, Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ Schools etc. were evaluated under 136 Resource Centres of the five educational Zones of Hapjan, Kakopather, Margherita, Sadiya and Tinsukia Town. A total of 144542 students were assessed in their scholastic and co-scholastic areas by 569 Government officials along with Professors from different colleges of the district. MLA, Tinsukia, Sanjay Kishan and MLA Digboi, Suren Phukon also participated in this exercise, extending their suggestions for the all-round development of the educational scenario in the district. Partha Pratim Boiragi Jt Secretary Transport department, Parineela Singh Conservator of Forest, Indranashi Das Joint Secratary Health & Family Welfare acted as external Evaluators while Piyukh Bhushan Chetia principal and Tridib Sarma Tamuli of SSA coordinated the programme.
