Guwahati: The government of Assam has recently announced to constitute a definite land area as a National Park which will be the tenth addition of Kaziranga National Park (KNP).

The decision has been taken as per the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Biswanath district has been appointed as the collector, who will investigate and determine the claims of the proposed land area.

The DC has been also appointed as a collector for the extinguishment of rights in connection to the land within described limits.

The state government has further informed the general public to submit the prescribed proforma to the divisional forest officer, Biswanath wildlife division regarding claims of any right of any person in or over the land that comes within the limit of the tenth addition to Kaziranga National Park.

It is informed that the public can submit forms within 2 months from the date of issue of the order.

The 'Claim Form' [Form No.VIII, Assam Wildlife (Protection) Rules, 1997] will be available from the office of the divisional forest officer, Biswanath wildlife division cum deputy director in Biswanath Chariali. It will cost no money to get the form and people can obtain it only during working hours.

People can visit and contact the same office of the divisional forest officer for detailed boundary explanations or any other information.

''The northern boundary of the demarcated land runs from coordinates 260 45'21.70" N latitude & 930 17'7.29" E longitude in a north-west direction till it reaches coordinate 260 45'40.04" N latitude & 93016271.16" E longitude,'' read an official statement dated February 17th.

It further stated that from the south-east side of Monabari afforestation center at the 6th addition to Kaziranga National Park border begins the eastern boundary which moves along the Monabari Plantation boundary in an eastward direction.

The southern boundary runs along the north bank of the Brahmaputra River following the northern boundary of the sixth addition to Kaziranga National Park.

The western boundary runs from NE coordinates towards a southwest direction, turning southeast and moving to southwest till it again meets the northern boundary the 6th addition to KNP.
