GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has announced financial assistance of ₹300 per month for six months to all Class 10 students from economically weaker sections to help them afford tuition and improve their academic performance.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement on April 1, during the launch of the ‘Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan,’ the state’s largest entrepreneurship support initiative aimed at benefiting 30 lakh women through financial assistance for self-employment.

Taking to his social media handle on X, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “For all my Bhagins in Class 10, soon we will credit ₹300/month for six months to matriculation candidates from poor families so that they can take tuitions and perform better in their exams.” He shared this along with a video of the announcement.

Meanwhile, the Assam government launched its biggest women entrepreneurship support scheme, offering ₹10,000 as seed capital to boost self-employment opportunities for women. The scheme, called 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan,' was launched by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Behali in Biswanath district and will be rolled out across the state in phases.

"Assam's biggest women entrepreneurship support scheme launched. 30 lakh women to benefit," Sarma said in a post on X after formally handing over the first cheques under the scheme.
