KOKRAJHAR: A virtual ceremony for the Grihapravesh under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) and the launch of the ‘Lakhimi Mistri’ initiative was held on Saturday at the conference hall of the District Centre, Kajalgaon. The event marked a significant step forward in rural housing and women empowerment in Chirang district.

The programme was simultaneously conducted across the three development blocks of the district, Borobazar, Sidli and Manikpur, covering a total of 1,726 Grihapravesh beneficiaries. Of these, 705 houses were inaugurated in Borobazar Block, 918 in Sidli Block and 103 in Manikpur Block.

Distinguished guests, including MLA Sidli Nirmal Brahma, MLA Bijni Ajoy Kumar Ray, and TCLCC Chairpersons Suresh Daimary and Mawti Brahma, graced the respective block-level events and interacted with the beneficiaries.

The ‘Lakhimi Mistri’ programme, also launched during the event, is a women empowerment initiative focused on training women in masonry and construction skills. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the effective implementation of rural housing schemes by building local capacity and promoting self-reliance among women.
