DIBRUGARH: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the newly built auditorium of Auniati Sakha Xatra at a simple programme held at Dibrugarh on Friday. The auditorium was constructed at a budget of Rs 1.55 crore within a time frame of two years.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Sonowal said that Assam has a very rich heritage of its art, culture, spiritualism, humanity and the auditorium, he believes, would reflect these values. He also said that apart from socio-cultural activities, the auditorium should shoulder the responsibility to teach the younger generation about the values of Assam's socio-cultural life with special emphasis on the Xatra culture.

He also said that though the inauguration programme was held in the backdrop of novel Coronavirus pandemic, the concerted battle against COVID-19 is going on very strongly as he believed that the battle will see positive culmination against the pandemic.

He also called upon the people of Assam to adhere to all safety protocols including wearing of masks and frequent hand washing till any medicine or vaccine against the virus is developed. Sonowal also called upon the people not to consider the auditorium merely a construction made of sand, brick, cement and iron rod, it is an epitome of people's aims and aspirations, socio-cultural and spiritual identity. He also said that a management committee will be formulated for managing the daily activities of the auditorium.

Satradhikar of Aunati Xatra Dr. Pitambar Dev Goswami thanked Chief Minister Sonowal for extending all help for constructing the auditorium. He also said that the auditorium will enrich the socio-cultural and spiritual ethos and transfer the same to the younger generation.
