BARPETA: In Barpeta, healthcare workers and officials took exceptional measures to save the life of Kohinur Khatun, an 8-month pregnant woman with dangerously low hemoglobin levels (Hb 4.4).

Although her family initially hesitated and faced social challenges, a committed team of doctors, ASHA workers, and district officials worked relentlessly to convince her to get an urgent blood transfusion at FAAMCH.

They coordinated blood donations and even involved local authorities and the police. As a result of their dedication, Kohinur was admitted to the hospital on February 9, 2025, ensuring her well-being and that of her unborn child.

Earlier this year, the Border Security Force (BSF) Guwahati Frontier saved the life of a pregnant woman in Kalaicharbari, Dhubri district, with quick action and dedication. BSF personnel from the 150 Battalion responded swiftly when Munni Khatun, a local resident, faced a life-threatening delivery emergency.

Due to the limited medical facilities in the remote riverine area, they used a BSF boat to navigate the challenging terrain and transport Khatun to safety. She was then admitted to Dhubri Civil Hospital, where she received the life-saving medical care that she required. The BSF’s quick response ensured her safe delivery and health.

On a post on X, the BSF Guwahati stated, “Bordermen of 150Bn @BSF_Guwahati Ftr responded swiftly to a life threatening delivery emergency in Kalaicharbari (Dhubri).”

“BSF evacuated Munni Khatun across a challenging riverine border using a BSF boat & ensured her safe transfer to Dhubri Civil Hospital for life saving care”, the BSF Guwahati added.
