SRIBHUMI: A shocking case of alleged religious conversion has come to light in Assam's Sribhumi district. A Hindu girl from National Academy school in Nilambazar was reportedly influenced to convert to Islam and marry a Muslim boy.

As per reports, the school's principal, Lutfar Rahman, along with a female teacher, allegedly influenced the girl to perform 'Nikah' with a youth identified as Muhammad Abu Siddique. The matter came to the fore following a complaint, after which the police arrested the accused boy.

Authorities are investigating the case to find more details. People on social media are angry and want strict action against those responsible. Officials are still collecting evidence, and more updates are expected.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, a foreign national had been detained for his alleged involvement in conversion activities in Assam's Jorhat. According to reports, Brandon Jewel Develt, a Canadian citizen, had been arrested by local police, who arranged for his deportation back to Canada.

Brandon had arrived in India in 2021 on a tourist visa, which had expired on January 7 of this year. After his visa had expired, it had been discovered that he had been engaged in converting people to Christianity. He had been said to be running a church called Grace Church in the Mission Compound area of Jorhat, where he had been propagating the Christian faith and advocating its adoption among some of the local residents.
