DEMOW: The Department of Political Science, Hem Chandra Dev Goswami College, Nitaipukhuri in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college is organizing an ICSSR sponsored National Seminar on ‘Relocating Unsung Heroes from North-East India with Special Reference to Assam’ on Friday and Saturday in the college.
On Friday, Dr LX Polin Hazarika, Assistant Professor of the English Department, stated the aims of the inaugural session. Dr Birinchi Kumar Borah, Principal of Hem Chandra Dev Goswami College graced the chair while Dr Debobrata Sharma was the invited keynote speaker for today’s inaugural session. Bhaskar Sharma, a prolific writer, was a resource person for today’s technical session. Dr Gitamoni Gogoi, Assistant Professor of the Political Department, and the coordinator of the organizing committee presented the objectives of the session and the National Seminar as a whole. She highlighted the contribution of the unsung heroes of North East India in the freedom struggle of India.
Dr Sudhir Kumar Das, retired vice-principal of the college, shared his valuable opinion and thoughts regarding the unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle and also about the role of the historians in keeping them unsung for so long. The ‘Abstract Volume’ was officially released by Bipin Dutta.
Technical Session 1 was chaired by Dr Tarun Gogoi, Associate Professor of the History Department, where 5 papers were presented. In Technical Session 2, another 5 research papers were presented.
