Assam: IMD Issues Thunderstorm Warning For Kamrup And Kamrup Metro

GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Guwahati has issued an alert regarding severe thunderstorms likely to affect the Kamrup and Kamrup Metro districts today. The weather conditions are likely to bring hail along with gusty winds and light to moderate rains.

As per the IMD, inhabitants of these areas need to expect potentially dangerous weather conditions. Thunderstorms are expected to be associated with strong winds, which will be dangerous to outdoor activities and may cause local disruptions. Chances of hail further increase the gravity of the situation, as it can cause damage to crops, vehicles, and property.

IMD's warning is a precautionary warning and instructs the people to remain alert and exercise precaution in the course of this weather phenomenon. The local administration and Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) have been alerted and stand ready to respond immediately in case of emergencies arising from the given weather conditions.

The public is asked to prevent unnecessary travel during the storm and secure loose objects susceptible to damage by strong winds. The IMD will remain vigilant and issue updates as required. This warning is a continuation of the IMD's effort to inform the public about severe weather patterns and maintain safety in the affected areas.
