Assam: Indrani Baruah and 35 others to be honoured with Chief Minister's Police Medal on I-Day

Guwahati: Amid their battle from the frontlines against the novel coronavirus, as many as 35 police personnel from Assam have been selected to be honoured with the Chief Minister's Police Medal for their "outstanding service."

The Chief Minister's Police Medal shall be conferred to these gallant personnel by the Assam Governor on the occasion of India's 74th Independence Day.

Of the 35 personnel who shall be conferred with the Chief Minister's Police Medal, 29 are from the ranks of the Assam Police, while 6 personnel are from the Fire and Emergency Services of Assam.

Below is the list of the personnel who will be conferred with the Chief Minister's Police Medal:

Needless to say, this recognition shall serve as a great confidence boost to Assam's men and women in uniform who have been waging a long and arduous battle against the COVID-19 pandemic ever since the virus landed on our shores.

In doing so, many of these frontline warriors themselves have been infected by the dreaded contagion and 6 personnel have died in the line of duty.

These medals shall serve as a timely reminder to the Assam cops that the efforts against anti-social elements (and even pandemics) are being appreciated.
