SIVASAGAR: The two-day International Conference on "Integrating Multidisciplinary Approaches for Sustainable Environmental Solutions (ICIMASES-2026)" concluded at Gargaon College (Autonomous), Sivasagar, on Saturday.
Organised by the Department of Chemistry, Gargaon College, in collaboration with the IQAC, Gargaon College Science Forum and North East IPR Services (NEIPRS), the conference was held on August 21 and 22. It was sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India, the Royal Society of Chemistry and Gargaon College Science Forum.
The concluding day featured a keynote address by American biomedical engineer, researcher and entrepreneur Prof Thomas J Webster, Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston, United States. He spoke on "40,000 Implants in Humans and No Failures: The Impact of Green Nanomedicine, Sensors, and Entrepreneurship."
The conference featured 75 research paper presentations over the two days. The programme included multiple parallel technical sessions in both online and offline modes, providing researchers, academicians and students with a platform to present their work and exchange ideas.
The technical deliberations covered sustainable synthesis of titanium oxide nanoparticles, waste-plastic valorisation, the hydrogen economy, traditional knowledge and biodiversity in Northeast India, indigenous water-harvesting systems, sacred groves, community engagement and climate resilience, biomass-based biofuels and ecological assessment.
Research presentations also addressed environmental pollution, resource management, green synthesis and computational approaches to environmental and pharmaceutical problems. The conference provided a multidisciplinary platform for researchers from different fields to present their findings and exchange perspectives on environmental sustainability.
