Boko: Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) Kamrup district chairman Mohan Boro visited various villages under the 28 no. Boko-Chaygaon (ST) constituency on Thursday. During the day-long programme, Mohan Boro visited many villages, including Kaliyabori, Dilinga, Kukurmara, Shakti, and many other villages. Mohan Boro met self-help groups and villagers along with Hiranya Nath, President of Boko Mandal BJP; Khudra Thakuria, Secretary of South Kamrup District BJP; and many other leaders from the BJP party. Mohan Boro was appointed as chairman of ITDP Kamrup District in the year 2023.
The Assam Government appointed Mohan Boro as the new chairman of the ITDP Kamrup district in 2023 following various corruption allegations against former chairman Labanya Boro.
According to Mohan Boro, 84 villages under the 28 no. Boko-Chaygaon LAC has been selected as the model village under the tribal affairs, which includes 54 villages under Boko Block, 19 villages under Bongaon Block, and 11 villages under Chaygaon Block. Boro further said that to promote the economic empowerment of STs and make them economically self-dependent, ITBP Kamrup district distributed various machines that are needed in the agricultural sector to the self-help groups for comprehensive development.
"Oil extraction machines, grinding machine, solar water pumps for paddy fields, paddy thresher machine, home solar items including LED lights and fans, solar high mast tower lights for the public areas in the villages, which value of the goods is around 14 lakhs distributed to two self-help groups in the per-model villages in the constituency," added Mohan Boro, Chairman, ITDP.
Villagers and self-help groups expressed their satisfaction during his visit. Mohan Boro also discussed public problems with the villagers he visited so he will try to help the villages in the coming days. Mohan Boro was assured to provide a cemetery and stage for the public in every model village he visited from the Tribal Affairs department. Mohan Boro met women from the Mitali Self Help Group, Janti Self Help Group, Pancharupa Self Help Group, and many other self-help groups. Boro encouraged them to become economically strong by producing various types of food items using machines, which were distributed by the ITDP Kamrup District.
