DIBRUGARH: The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) on Tuesday staged a sit-in at Chowkidinghee in Dibrugarh against the government's decision to teach Mathematics and Science in the English language from the next academic session in all government and provincialized Assamese and other vernacular medium schools.

he members staged protest for an hour demanding withdrawal of the decision immediately. "We strongly oppose the decisions taken by the government. We demand that they re-think and withdraw it immediately," said Paragjyoti Baruah, president, Dibrugarh district AJP. He said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given preference to local languages on one side and on the other side in Assam, the government wants to teach Science and Maths in English.
