DHEKIAJULI: Journalists from ND24 and other media outlets were attacked by the sand-gravel mafia while collecting news in Hugrajuli, Dhekiajuli.
A team of journalists, including ND24 journalist Bimaljyoti Nath, had gone to Panchnoi in Hugrajuli to report on illegal sand and gravel mining operations. At the same time, local people were gathered there to protest the illegal activities. While returning after collecting the report, the journalists were attacked by members of the illegal sand-gravel mafia.
Controversial RTI activist Dilip Nath’s son, Kapil Nath, along with Prashanta Nath and Pankaj Nath, allegedly attempted to kill Bimaljyoti Nath and three other journalists. Not only were the journalists physically assaulted, but their mobile phones were also forcibly taken and video recordings deleted. Rakhyasmari Police arrested all three individuals in connection with the incident following an FIR lodged by the victim Bimaljyoti Nath.
