
DIPHU: In a significant move, the Karbi Anglong Police, in collaboration with the district administration, successfully auctioned off 8.133 kilograms of seized gold, generating a substantial revenue of Rs. 6,63,37,627 for the state. The gold was confiscated in connection with Dillai Police Station Case No. 61/21.
The auction followed all legal steps after getting the required court orders and following the government's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Officials made sure the process was clear and followed the legal rules.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, based on reliable input, the Lakhimpur Police had arrested an individual for possession of fake gold boats. Reports claimed that I/C Bangalmara OP and staff had conducted OPs and had seized three fake gold boats weighing 4.475 kgs from the alleged individual.
Similarly, the Lakhimpur Police, last year in July, had announced on the microblogging site X that the state police officials had seized four counterfeit gold bars in the Lakhimpur district. According to credible information, I/C Bongalmara OP and personnel had carried out an operation and had confiscated a Tata Supro taxi with license plate AS07AC4234 in No. 2 Sonapur.
As per reports, the operation conducted by the team had resulted in the seizure of four fake gold bars. The apprehended individual had been identified as Taibur Rahman.
