KOKRAJHAR: In a decisive move to address the worrying trend of school dropouts in Kokrajhar district, the district administration, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Samagra Shiksha, organized a day-long Chintan Shivir at the KDSA Indoor Stadium. The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders.
Gossaigaon MLA Jiron Basumatary, District Commissioner Masanda Pertin, BTC’s Director of Education Jagadish Prasad Brahma, principals of colleges, higher secondary and high schools, alongside representatives from NGOs, actively participated in the discussions.
Various issues, including socio-economic factors contributing to dropout rates, the lack of inclusive learning environments, and the urgent need to reintegrate out-of-school children, were discussed. Emphasis was also laid on promoting community participation, improving the quality of teaching, and strengthening the overall education infrastructure. Speakers underlined that reducing dropout rates would require collective responsibility and long-term commitment from the government, educational institutions, civil society, and families alike.
The Chintan Shivir concluded with a call for concrete action plans and coordinated efforts to ensure that no child in the Bodoland Territorial Region is left behind in receiving quality education.
