KHERONI: A powerful storm accompanied by relentless heavy rainfall left a trail of destruction across West Karbi Anglong district, demolishing several houses and severely damaging key community infrastructure. Among the hardest hit was the Chengbong Amang English ME School, where two classrooms, a veranda, and the headmaster’s office were completely destroyed. The devastating weather also claimed essential school resources, including books intended for students, admission registers, two blackboards, chairs, and benches.
The school management, alongside concerned members of the general public, has issued an urgent appeal for assistance to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) authorities. The destruction has disrupted education in the area, leaving students and staff in dire need of support to rebuild and restore normalcy.
Authorities have yet to respond formally to the plea for help, but the community remains hopeful that the KAAC will step in to provide resources and aid to those affected. As recovery efforts began, the resilience of West Karbi Anglong’s residents shone amidst this natural calamity.
