GAURISAGAR: Kuladhar Kalita, a resident of Gaurisagar and a prominent newspaper agent and owner of Banti Pustakalay, Gaurisagar, in the Sivasagar district, passed away today morning at his own residence due to old age ailment. He was 85.Leading an intellectual awakening by selling books- magazines, newspapers for nearly six decades at the heart of Gaurisagar Kalita did his schooling at his native village Rupahimukh on the outskirt of Gaurisagar. After sudden demise of his father he stayed at his uncle house Bapuram Kalita, a prominent businessman of Gaurisagar.
Soon after passing matriculation examination from Gaurisagar Higher Secondary Industrial Institute in 1968 he started his business life in advise of his uncle. By the dint of his hard toil labour and dedication he earned money and established a prominent businessman. For his contribution towards development of society he was publicly felicitated by Gaurisagar Press Club in 2021 on the eve of year long Silver Jubilee Celebration. His demise was widely mourned. Various organizations like Gaurisagar Press Club, APCU, Sivasagar District Committee, Gaurisagar Bibasayee Santha, Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Mancha among others organizations, individuals have paid floral tribute to his body.
