BAJALI: The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, has made another significant achievement in its mission to eliminate corruption within the state. Today, Daneswar Daimary, a Land Record Assistant at the Circle Officer's office in Bajali Revenue Circle, District Bajali, was apprehended while accepting a bribe.
Daimary was arrested by the anti-corruption team at his office after accepting an illegal payment from a complaint in connection with a land partition issue. The operation was carried out after the victim filed a complaint, leading to a swift and discreet investigation by the Vigilance team.
This incident underscores the Directorate's continuous efforts to combat corruption within government departments and promote transparency and accountability. Citizens are urged to report any instances of bribery or misconduct to the Directorate to bolster the fight against corruption.
Further investigations are ongoing, and authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those found responsible.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, the crackdown on corruption in government offices by the Assam government continued, with the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing of Assam Police arresting Paresh Kumar Sahu, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Darrang, for accepting a bribe. Sahu was caught red-handed receiving Rs 10,000 from a complainant in connection with the registration of a society.
Police confirmed that legal procedures were being followed after the officer's arrest.
Since taking office on May 10, 2021, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's government has launched a strong crackdown on corrupt officials, including police officers, many of whom are behind bars on corruption charges.
