BONGAIGAON: The founder president of the Koch-Rajbangshi Sahitya Sabha, the late Arun Kumar Ray, was posthumously honoured with the "Brave Silaray Award" for the year 2025.
The award was presented by Minister Pijush Hazarika during the 515th World Mahaveer Silaray Day celebrations. The event took place at the Secretariat of the Kamtapur Autonomous Council in North Salma in Bongaigaon, Assam.
Meanwhile, Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika, attended a district-level workshop in Tezpur on Tuesday. The event, held at the District Commissioner’s office, was part of Advantage Assam 2.0 for Sonitpur and Biswanath districts, leading up to the main Advantage Assam 2.0 event in Guwahati on February 25-26.
As the chief guest, Hazarika addressed over 200 local entrepreneurs, discussing the industrial potential of the districts. The District Industries & Commerce Department organized the workshop, featuring expert presentations.
During the session, the minister interacted with entrepreneurs and promptly addressed issues faced by two individuals regarding land documents, directing the Deputy Commissioner to resolve the matter.
Hazarika highlighted Assam's progress under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, emphasizing a corruption-free environment and a favorable business climate for investors.
He noted that while Assam had struggled with industrial growth in the past due to frequent strikes and unrest, the state has seen stability in the last four years, with no shutdowns.
The minister expressed confidence that the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 event would attract significant investment to the state, helping it become a manufacturing hub. The workshop was attended by district officials and MLAs from the region.
