KHERONI: In a significant move to ensure timely medical care for road accident victims, the Government of Assam rolled out the ‘Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme 2025,’ aligning with the guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH). This initiative provides cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh per victim for the first seven days following a motor vehicle-related road accident. As per the Assam Government’s notification dated June 14, 2025, all District Commissioners were directed to implement the scheme across their jurisdictions. They are tasked with integrating the Transaction Management System (TMS) and Public Financial Management System (PFMS), opening dedicated bank accounts with the Reserve Bank of India, and submitting required data in the prescribed format on a priority basis.

The scheme leverages the e-Detailed Accident Report (e-DAR), a digital platform developed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in India. The platform under Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) streamlines execution. Additionally, District Road Safety Committees (DRSCs) have been instructed to appoint a District Grievance Redressal Officer (DGRO) and ensure that their contact details are widely publicized to support victims, Good Samaritans, and hospitals.

The Assam Government emphasized the urgency of this life-saving initiative, calling for full cooperation to ensure its success. This scheme marks a critical step toward enhancing emergency healthcare access for road accident victims across the state. This press release was issued by the District Information and Public Relations Officer, Karbi Anglong district.
