

CACHAR: A tragic incident in Siddeshwar Village, Katigorah in Cachar was reported on Sunday evening. 27-year-old Biswajit Malakar, resident of the place is reported dead, with an assumed case of committing suicide.
The cause was believed to have been mounting pressure from severe cases of online gambling addiction.
According to the locals, Biswajit is a resident of the village and it is alleged that he had lost around Rs 12 lakh in the past few days. This is what compelled him to end his life due to gambling activities.
ediciuSHis body was found at home with a chip around his neck. He is said to have attempted suicide for the third time. However, on the two previous occasions, he was rescued by his family members.
Local police responded immediately to the incident, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The preliminary investigations reveal that the weight of his gambling debts was the prime cause of this tragedy.
The authorities are currently taking the case further to investigate whether there may have been more than one possible reason for this incident. This investigation is currently underway as the police try to make sense of the situation behind the suicide to get a closure.
