GORESWAR: A fraudulent young man in the Tamulpur area of Goreswar set up a bogus financial organisation, collecting thousands of rupees before going into hiding and not returning the money that had been deposited. This incident has sparked an uproar among the depositors in the district.

It is alleged that Neelkamal Paul, son of Subhash Chandra Paul and Shikha Rani Paul and a resident of 2 No. Goreswar (Puran Bazar), started a financial institution named “New Trading Co. Society” in 2016. By promising high profit margins he collected money in daily and monthly installments from people across various segments.

Specifically targeting labourers and small business owners, the shrewd Neelkamal not only collected funds on a daily basis but also, to lure investors, occasionally provided loans to depositors; furthermore, when the deposit term matured, he would refund the money along with the promised profit. However, later he stopped returning the funds, citing various excuses. When depositors demanded their money back, he evaded them with different pretexts.

Depositors further alleged that when they went to his house to reclaim their funds and issued threats demanding the money. It has been reported that as depositors began demanding their money continously, the self-styled manager Neelkamal Paul was found to be missing.

Neelkamal Paul’s son, Shivam Paul, filed a complaint at the Goreswar Police Station stating that his father was missing , even though local residents claim that he is simply in hiding.

Meanwhile, some individuals urged the administration to take stern action by thoroughly investigating the various fraudulent financial institutions operating under different names in the district of Tamulpur.
