Assam: Manipur Resident Held in Theft Case; Stolen Batteries Recovered by Police

DISPUR: In a significant development, the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team from Dispur Police Station has successfully cracked the case of theft after it apprehended the accused involved in the crime. The accused, identified as Hingleiwang Kuane (28), a resident of the Tamenglong district of Manipur, was arrested following a thorough investigation.

The authorities have confirmed that all four stolen batteries have been recovered from the suspect’s possession. The Assam Police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused. Further investigation is currently underway to determine whether the arrested individual is linked to any larger network of thieves.

In another similar case, Biswanath Police arrested an accused involved in a theft case reported from Milanpur on July 3. Acting promptly on the FIR registered under Biswanath Chariali PS case No. 122/2025, U/S 331(3)/305 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, police teams apprehended one Sanjib Baswar (25 years), a resident of Nilpur, Dighalipukhuri, under Biswanath Chariali PS in Biswanath district.

Meanwhile, the team from Napukhuri Outpost (OP) under Tinsukia Police Station (PS) successfully apprehended an accused involved in a theft case and recovered 29 stolen batteries from his possession last month, in June.

Acting on credible intelligence and swift operational planning, the Napukhuri OP team launched a targeted operation that led to the arrest of the accused. The stolen batteries, believed to have been taken from various locations in recent weeks, were found in his possession during the operation.
