
BONGAIGAON: A devastating fire broke out near Balarpet Tiniali Bazaar in Assam's Bongaigaon district, reducing three homes and a tempo vehicle to ashes. Property losses have been estimated at Rs. 30 lakh.
The affected properties belonged to Samed Ali, Suleman Ali, and Rafiqul Islam, all of whom lost their homes and belongings in the incident. According to initial reports, the fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
Prompt intervention by firefighters and local residents prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby marketplace, averting further destruction.
Police from the Borghola Police Outpost were present at the scene to inspect the area and keep the situation under control. Investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, on December 21, a devastating fire engulfed the local market in Margherita, Assam, during the early hours, reducing 20-25 shops to ashes. The incident, which began at around 1 a.m., resulted in significant property losses estimated at approximately Rs. 1.50 crore.
Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and managed to control the flames. Local residents have raised suspicions of arson, alleging the fire may have been deliberately set.
Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the exact cause of the blaze.
Earlier this month, a destructive fire ravaged the Fakiragram market in Assam, severely damaging a local businessman’s shop. The blaze completely destroyed the establishment owned by Badal Saha, leading to substantial financial losses estimated in lakhs of rupees.
