BONGAIGAON: A large pothole has been spotted on National Highway 117 at Tulungia, in Assam's Bongaigaon District and serious doubts have emerged about the construction quality overseen by NHAI. A highway completed only a few months ago has started to crack up and, as such, residents and commuters alike are left worried.

The stretch that has been affected is of great significance as thousands of vehicles pass through it every day. Locals fear that the poor state of this road may lead to accidents leading to loss of lives.

"It's shocking that a newly constructed road is already in such a state. Authorities need to address this immediately before mishaps occur," said the concerned local citizen.

Despite numerous complaints from the residents, no steps were taken towards rectifying this problem. This has angered the residents. The construction agency of this stretch of the highway has been questioned, and the residents have urged authorities to penalize them and undertake proper repairing work.

As one of the main transport routes that links different towns and cities, NH-117 is of paramount importance to the region. The present state of the road not only creates disruptions to regular traffic flows but also questions the quality of projects and oversight of infrastructure works in the region. Restoration is called for urgently to ensure road safety for commuters.
