Dibrugarh: A long felt need of Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMC&H) has been met with the generation of oxygen in its newly-set up two large oxygen plants in the AMC&H campus. The inauguration of oxygen plants at the advent of the New Year in AMC&H has brought a sea change towards supply of required oxygen to the patients who undergo treatment at Medicine ICU, COVID ICU, Central ICU.

"AMC&H now onwards can save a large amount of revenue as the authority earlier had to pay a substantial amount against the purchase of oxygen cylinders from markets," said Principal of AMC&H, Dr. Sanjib Kakoti and Superintendent Prasanta Dihingia. They added, "The oxygen generated in the new plants will certainly take away the chronic problems of oxygen supply in the AMCH."

Expressing satisfaction over functioning of both the plants in 2021 , the authority stated that the construction of the plants was started in October 2020 under the aegis of the Union Government and supervision of the State Government. The plants came into operation on January 1 this year.
