BISWANATH CHARIALI: Ashok Singhal, Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Irrigation and also the Guardian Minister of Biswanath district, reviewed the work of various departments in the district in a meeting held at the Biswanath District Commissioner's Office on Saturday.
The minister reviewed the progress of various schemes implemented under several departments like Agriculture, Health and Family Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies, Irrigation, Panchayat and Rural Development, Public Health and Engineering, Social Welfare, Lok Nirman, etc., in the district. He also took stock of the progress of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal-Jeevan Mission, Adarsh Anganwadi Kendras, seed distribution, nutrition mission, wage compensation of pregnant women in tea estates, etc., in the district.
He directed the District Commissioner to work on the improvement of nutrition indicators of women and children, the distribution of Ayushman cards among beneficiaries, and immunization campaigns on a priority basis. Expressing concern over the increasing rate of suicides in the district, he directed the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment to conduct a social survey to explore its causes.
