Guwahati: In a bid to ensure smooth conduct of recruitment exams, mobile internet services will remain suspended in districts having centres for the exams, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Wednesday.

"Suspended the mobile internet service for at least three hours during the examinations on respective days," Sarma said during a virtual meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and stakeholders.

About 14 lakh candidates are expected to appear in the exams which will be held on August 21, 28 and September 11 in 25 districts.

''To ensure smooth conduct of the exams for recruitment into nearly 30,000 Gr III & IV posts, held a virtual meeting with DCs & other stakeholders.

About 14 lakh candidates are expected to appear in the exams to be held on August 21, 28 & September 11,'' Sarma tweeted.

The AssamCM also said that he shared the SOPs and asked the DCs to adhere to these in letter and spirit with adequate security measures.

''There won't be any leniency in maintaining the exam's sanctity. Asked DCs & SPs to be ready with men & materials to thwart unscrupulous elements from disrupting the exams,'' he added.

Notably, the wi-fi systems existing in the examination centre must be switched off on the day of the examination.

Further, no one engaged in the examination is allowed to carry mobile phones in the examination centre except the centre in charge.

If any invigilator or any other staff engaged in the examination brings mobile phones then it must be deposited to the centre-in-charge immediately on reaching the centre.

He also asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to deploy an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) in every district as the overall in-charge of security of all centres in the district.

Besides this, he also asked the DGP to deploy a Sub-Inspector rank officer in every centre of the state.
