
MORIGAON: Morigaon district authorities have stepped up their efforts to fight the illegal drug trade. They made two successful raids and seized a total of 65.2 grams of suspected heroin. The Morigaon Police have arrested three people in connection with these drug busts.
In the first incident, Jagiroad Police acted on reliable information and carried out a focused operation. They arrested two people, Podum Das and Bhagyajit Saikia, after finding 8.2 grams of suspected heroin with them. The drugs were seized under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations are ongoing to find out where the drugs came from and if anyone else is involved in the drug network.
In another successful operation by the Boribazar Police outpost at Khalapia based on reliable information, seized 57 grams of suspected heroin. The main suspect, Alal Uddin, was arrested at the scene, and legal action has been taken against him. Authorities are also investigating the local drug trafficking network.
Meanwhile, the South Salmara Mankachar Police, in a significant operation led by Additional SP (HQ) and Sub-Inspector Sonudev Barman at Pubergaon Part-2, seized 11 g of heroin (9 vials), Rs 62,125 in cash, and 3 mobile phones. The police personnel arrested three alleged individuals involved in the crime and lodged FIRs against them.
In another operation, the South Salmara Mankachar Police team, led by Additional SP (HQ), seized 297 Phensedyl bottles and 2.055 kg of Ganja worth Rs 30 lakhs at Beparipara Launchghat Hunt. FIRs have been registered against the suspects.
