Assam: Mukoli Bihu Celebrated in Bilasipara with Cultural Competitions

Mukoli Bihu was celebrated in Bilasipara under the Manjura Rani Memorial Trust, featuring traditional competitions at local venues.

BILASIPARA: Under the aegis of the Manjura Rani Memorial Trust, Mukoli Bihu was observed at Bilasipara on Sunday. A “Mou” competition was held at the auditorium of the Bilasipara Sub-divisional Public Library, while the Bihu Maina and Bihu Kuwari competitions took place at the Bilasipara Public Field.

The programme was attended by Jibesh Roy, Chief Executive Member of the KAC; Sudhir Chandra Roy, Executive Member of the KAC; and Arup Dey, Executive Member of the BTC. They, along with other dignitaries, were felicitated with phoolam gamocha, japi, and bouquets.

Jibesh Roy, Arup Dey, and Mithun Roy addressed the gathering with short speeches, congratulating Dr. K.L. Das, the author and founder of the Trust, for undertaking such a venture.

Following this, the Mukali Bihu competition commenced. Six Bihu dance troupes from Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Abhayapuri, Dhubri, Gouripur, and Futkibari participated in the event. The people of Bilasipara congratulated Dr. K.L. Das for successfully organizing the programme without any untoward incident.
