SILCHAR: The ‘Jumma’ namaz in various masjids in the Barak Valley was followed by silent protests against the recent mayhem in Pahalgam. At Boro Masjid in Silchar, Muslims gathered in large numbers with placards in their hands condemning the killings of the Hindu tourists and prayed for the departed souls. Muslims were seen wearing black badges on their arms as a token of protest against the heinous act. Hazrat Maulana Sabbir Ahmed, the Head Imam of the Boro Masjid, in his speech, strongly condemned the killings of the innocent tourists, highlighting that violence had no place in Islam. Deputy Speaker of the Assam Assembly Aminul Haque Laskar criticized Pakistan for inciting violence in Kashmir despite the fact that it belongs to India.
Reports of such protests by the Muslims in other parts of the valley were also received.
