NAGAON: District administration as well as district election department, Nagaon have completed all preparedness for counting of votes at four centres in the district on Sunday. The counting of votes will be carried out from 8 am.
As per schedule, the votes of Kashamari, Bhutai Pathori, Uriagaon Zila Parishad, Anchalik and gaon panchayat under Nagaon - Batadroba assembly constituency, Barhampur, Kathiatoli, Jamunamukh, Puranigudam Zila Parishad, Anchalik and gaon panchayats under Barhampur assembly constituency, will be counted at Nagaon Government Boys HS School while Amlakhi - Chahariya, Bechamari, Lahkar, Balisatra Zila Parishad, Anchalik and gaon panchayat under Dhing assembly constituency, Fakoli, Aalitangoni - Dagaon, Juria, Maheripar - Borghuli Zila Parishad, Anchalik and gaon panchayat under Rupahihat assembly constituency as well as Bajiagaon, Bhakatgaon, Garajan, Singimari Zila Parishad, Anchalik and gaon panchayat under Samaguri assembly constituency, will be counted at Nagaon Government Girls’ HS School here.
On the other hand, the counting of votes of Dar Bagori, Dar Salna, Chatial - Pub Thuria Ambagan Zila Parishad, Anchalik and gaon panchayat will be held at the campus of the office the commissioner of Kaliabor Co-district while counting of votes of Fulaguri - Barapujia, Pakhimoria - Jamaguri, Chaparmukh, Madhabpara Zila Parishad, Anchalik and gaon panchayat under Raha assembly constituency will be held at Raha college.
Among 27 Zila Parishad seats in the district, candidates from ruling alliance declared uncontested in 6 seats including Barhampur, Jamunamukh, Kathiatoli, Uriagaon, Dar Bagori, Chatial - Pub Thuria. Similarly, candidates from the ruling alliance were declared uncontested in 32 Anchalik panchayat seats and 229 gaon panchayat seats respectively during scrutiny of the nomination papers in the district.
The counting of votes will decide the fate of 58 candidates in Zila Parishad, 327 candidates in Anchalik panchayat and 3704 candidates in gaon panchayat seats.
The district administration has already arranged tight security measures at all those four counting centres for free, fair and transparent counting of votes in the district.
