MANGALDAI: National Girl Child Day was celebrated on Friday at the Rupkonwar Shilpi Samaj auditorium in Hazarikapara in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development and District Legal Service Authority under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. In the awareness meeting held on this occasion, the participants took the pledge to build a stronger nation by educating every girl child. As part of the awareness campaign, a mass signature campaign was launched with a collective resolve to educate the girl child as the pride of the nation.
Synchronizing with the celebration, hearty felicitation was accorded to 11-year-old Yoga girl Drishna J.R. Chanda, of Mangaldai who recently won two gold medals, one silver and one bronze for India at the 10th Asian Yoga Games in Singapore.
