BOKAKHAT: The Numaligarh Refinery Branch Xahitya Xabha celebrated the 175th birth anniversary of Assam’s first graduate, first civil servant, and distinguished scholar Anandaram Dhekial Phukan on Wednesday. The event was held under the presidency of Dr Kajal Saikia, while the purpose of the meeting was elaborated by the society’s secretary, Pranabjyoti Saikia. On the occasion, Deepu Kumar Bhattacharya and Ajit Kumar Das delivered speeches highlighting the scholar’s contributions to education, literature, and his life journey. Notable attendees including Ghanshyam Hazarika, Dilip Saikia, Nipon Sharma, Gajendra Nath Das, Thaneswar Das, Bhupen Sharma, Pankaj Kumar Malakar, Rintu Hatibaruah, Aseem Rajkhowa, Sanjeev Kumar Das, and Padmaja Khaound shared their thoughts during the session. At the beginning of the event, the society expressed deep sorrow at the untimely demise of popular singer Gayatri Hazarika and extended heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family.
