DIBRUGARH: As a part of the 75th anniversary celebration of National Sample Survey (NSS), the NSO, Regional Office-Dibrugarh of National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoS&PI), successfully organized an awareness campaign rally today.
The rally commenced from the DDA Complex, Phoolbagan and proceeded through Thana Chariali Traffic Point and HS Road, and aimed to raise awareness about NSO activities/initiatives, encourage community participation in data collection, and highlight the importance of data in nation-building. Employees from RO-Dibrugarh participated enthusiastically, holding placards showcasing NSS’s contributions to socio-economic development and policy formulation while chanting slogans about the importance of providing reliable data to the government. Pamphlets were also distributed along the route to further educate the public on the significance of statistical data in governance.
RN Soreithem, Director of NSO (FOD), RO-Dibrugarh, spoke at the event and highlighted that the National Statistics Office is actively engaged in collecting data that significantly contributes to the formulation of citizen-centric policies by both Central and State Governments.
He noted that to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the NSS, NSO will be organizing a number of activities over the year, including planting of saplings, displaying banners and standees in public places, distributing pamphlets, and hosting community awareness and seminar programmes, all aimed at celebrating its rich history and ongoing initiatives. He expressed gratitude to the citizens, especially residents of Assam, for their continued support in the data collection process.
Soreithem urged the public to provide accurate information/data to NSO field staff in the coming years, which will assist the Central and State Governments in developing citizen-centric policies, contributing to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, a developed India that is inclusive and prosperous for all.
