NAGAON: The counting of votes of Panchayat election 2025, continued peacefully at four counting centres set up at Nagaon Govt Boys’ HS School, Nagaon Govt Girls’ HS School, Raha College, and the campus of the office of the Commissioner of Kaliabor co-district in Nagaon district.

Tight security measures were deployed at those four counting centers, so that the counting process can be completed smoothly as well as transparently. The District Commissioner and District Election Officer of Nagaon Narendra Kumar Shah visited the counting centers at regular intervals and interacted with the officials and other staff to assess the situation. He also exchanged views with election officials and employees and monitored the transparency, impartiality, and safety measures during the counting process.

Notably, a heated situation arose at the counting Center of No. 24 Bajiagaon Zila Parishad constituency at Nagaon Govt Girls’ Higher Secondary School on Sunday, where counting was started from 10 AM, about 2 hours later from scheduled timing. Reportedly, both the workers of the state’s ruling BJP and Opposition INC were involved in conflict and created a chaotic situation by manhandling each other during the counting process. Meanwhile, counting officials and security personnel controlled the situation by intervening between both the party leaders and workers.

It’s pertinent to mention that as per information issued by election cell, the candidates from the ruling BJP alliance are leading in maximum ZP as well as AP seats leaving behind the candidates from the Opposition parties, except a few in the district till the time of filing of this report.
