Silchar: Silchar Cancer Centre, a unit of Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) on Wednesday had moved one more step further with the inauguration of the PET-CT facility l.
The inauguration commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Dr. (Maj Gen) Jai Prakash Prasad, Chief Operating Officer of ACCF, and Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Principal & Chief Superintendent of Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
Dr. Biswajit Ghosh, Medical Superintendent of Silchar Cancer Centre, elaborated the continuous growth of the Silchar unit with collective efforts.
Dr. Indranil Sinha, Senior Nuclear Medicine Consultant, focused on the history and evolution of PET-CT, emphasizing its vital role in accurate cancer diagnostics.
In his keynote address, Dr. Jai Prakash Prasad, reinforced the significance of PET-CT in modern oncology, highlighting how this facility would bridge a critical gap in cancer care for the people of the region. He further added that mere installation of modern equipments did not mean the achievement of the goal with which this centre had been established, but it was the man behind the machine who finally matters. In that case Silchar Cancer Center was a lucky enough to have an person with thirty years in the field of cancer diagnosis.
Principal of SMCH Dr. Bhaskar Gupta commended the collaborative efforts of ACCF, the Assam Government, and Tata Trusts in making this facility a reality.
