GUWAHATI:
At a time when Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma repeatedly extols the government officials to be more people-friendly, police allegedly hurled abuse at a poor woman who sought help to save her from molester in Moran, Assam.

According to reports, a poor woman is an owner of a roadside small shop. In order to earn a living, she runs the shop on a thela. Like the other days, last evening she shut down her shop and went to her home along with her sister.

But a man allegedly tried to molest her sister in the road. He also attacked the two helpless women when they resisted him. Then, they ran to the nearby police station. But an utter shock to the helpless women, a police official rebuked them and refused to file FIR instead.

The police officer identified as Rajiv Das also accused them of running the shop illegally. Now, the women have demanded justice from the higher police authority. On the other hand, the alleged molester was identified as one Rukman.
