Assam: Police Recover Huge Cache Of Arms, Nab Three From Sonitpur
As per sources, 3 guns and 12 live bullets has been extracted from procurement of three individuals.
GUWAHATI : Assam police, during an operation, seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Sonitpur district of Assam. The episode took place in Chariduar area of Sonitpur district on Tuesday.
The concerned police department received prior information, and based on that went on to raid a house in Chariduar and recovered the illegal items. As per sources, 3 guns and 12 live bullets has been extracted from the possession of three individuals.
Furthermore, the cops apprehended the accused and has initiated an investigation regarding the matter.
On 7th of January, two international arm dealers got nabbed by Silchar police from New Market. The smugglers has been identified by the cops as Sanjit Namo and Naresh Chakma.
Police seized as many as 40 bullets and 2 pistols from the accused. The duo got caught after reaching the Silchar ISBT from the state of Tripura. Numal Mahatta, the SP of Cachar informed that the duo planned to sell the guns to arms dealer hailing from Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the concerned police department has initiated a probe into the matter in order to nab the Bangladeshi arm dealers. Just a day prior to this incident, three individuals got arrested from Assam's Kamrup district.
A team of security police recovered cache of guns and bullets from their acquisition. The accused has been identified as Fazal Ali, Babli Hussain and Anuwar Hussain.
The incident took place as a result of a joint operation carried on by police and CRPF. As per the reports, the arrest was made during a Naka checking in Rangia area. The team intercepted their motorbike and did a body check upon which a sharp weapon and 7.65mm gun was recovered from them.
The duo who was nabbed by the police team confessed that a person called Anuwar Hussain directed them to,, loot money from a person. The team following the information rushed to the spot and apprehended the accused.
