

GUWAHATI: In a significant fight against drugs, the Assam police on Wednesday recovered WY tablets worth approximately Rs 4-5 crore and arrested a woman with the drugs in Guwahati.
The Guwahati City Police, based on an intelligence source, intercepted the woman at Guwahati Railway Station. After checking her thoroughly, the police recovered 20,000 WY tablets from her possession.
"Acting on credible intelligence, @GhyCityPolice intercepted a suspect at Guwahati Railway Station and seized the following: 20,000 WY tablets valued at approximately ₹4-5 crore, one mobile handset, ₹1,000 cash, one individual has been arrested in connection with the case," Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote in X.
In another similar operation, Assam Police confiscated a staggering 66,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs. 20 crore in Cachar district earlier in March. The operation was conducted based on reliable intelligence aimed at combating illegal drug trafficking along the Assam-Mizoram border.
Numal Mahatta, the Superintendent of Police of Cachar, reported that a police team executed a raid at the residence of 36-year-old Md Dil Bahar in Raj Gobindpur, Baga, under the jurisdiction of Dholai Police Station.
The Yaba tablets were discovered hidden within the false ceiling of the house. The seizure was carried out following legal protocols and in the presence of independent witnesses.
