DIGBOI: In what can be described as relentless and persistent efforts as a part of the continued campaign of Assam police's war on drugs, Bordumsa police in Tinsukia district alone has recorded four NDPS cases registered in just one month (May 2022) with five arrests and significant seizures.

"With the arrest of Grishab Phukan (37) from Bordumsa's Litong village on Monday evening along with suspected Brown sugar, the total figure of the NDPS cases at Bordumsa police station stands at 5 in one month," said a police official while sharing that the war against drugs has already gained momentum and special thrust is being employed along the border areas which are reportedly developing into a drug hub.

Referring to earlier NDPS cases No 17/2022 u/s 22(c), 18/2022u/s 17(b), 21 (b), 20/2022 u/s 17(c), and 23/2022 u/s 21(b), one of the district cop said that 5 drug peddlers operating in various vulnerable areas along Assam-Arunachal border areas in Bordumsa had been arrested with contraband substances including 2,950 pieces of psychotropic tablets, 286 grams of opium, 16 grams of Brown sugar and several objectionable apparatus and gadgets.

Meanwhile, talking to The Sentinel, Tinsukia SP Debajit Deori on Tuesday reiterated that Assam police in Tinsukia district have been working on a special strategy to curb the graph of the illegal drug trading and peddling in the district besides activating the rudder across the neighbouring states paving safe passages for the consignments to enter Assam market.
