Assam: Popular talk organized at Biswanath Chariali

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Ernest Rutherford’s birthday was celebrated under the initiative of Akash Science and Environment Education Centre at Biswanath Chariali on Sunday. The meeting was presided over by Khiradhar Baruah, the founder president of Akash, while the proceedings were conducted by secretary Ripunjoy Bordoloi.

Presenting a popular talk on ‘Atom and Development of its Structure’, Dr Utpal Borah, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Tezpur University, explained the structure of atoms among the students in a beautiful manner with models as well as audio-visual medium. Kshirdhar Baruah dwelt at length about Ernest Rutherford’s personality and interesting events in his life. Dr Sanjeev Upadhyay, Secretary, Biswanath Chariali Branch, Assam Science Society, also spoke a few words on Rutherford.

The programme was attended by around hundred students of various schools of Biswanath district as well as former secretary of Biswanath Regional Moina Parijat, Jatin Sharma, Hiranya Borthakur, Mamood Ahmed, Parjanya Bordoloi, Babita Hazarika, Tikendrajit Borah and others.
