
JORHAT: The annual session of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha will be held at the Eraltoli field in Mohbanda, Jorhat. The preparations for the event have been finally completed.
In Jorhat's Mohbandha Eraltoli field, 1200 bighas of land are being prepared for the annual convention of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha. The key infrastructures, including the main entrance, flag hoisting platform, and representative camps, are now complete.
This event is to be held till February 9 and has received considerable contributions from several departments, including the Public Health Engineering Department, the Power Department, and the Public Works Department. All the basic facilities have been established, including water, electricity, and road access.
In addition, two 250 kVA and one 100 kVA transformers have been temporarily mounted there to power some 8,000 light bulbs throughout the venue. This has been supported with a two-kilometer-long power line.
A total of 420 taps have been set up in the cooking and dining areas, besides equally distributed provisions in the camps. Three local ponds have been cleaned and fitted for use. Water quality tests have been conducted by the Public Health Engineering Department.
The function is likely to draw more than 100,000 persons, with massive sanitation arrangements, including the construction of 550 permanent toilets, over 200 bathing facilities, and numerous tube wells.
The event will also include exhibitions, a book fair, and a trade fair with approximately 800 stalls. A significant amount has been set aside for the post-event cleanup of the venue. Several dignitaries, including the Governor of Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal are expected to attend the event.
