Assam: Renowned sports entrepreneur, Xatradhikar Lakhikanta Mahanta felicitated at Gargaon College

SIVASAGAR: Noted exponent of Xattriya Culture, eminent sports advocate and visionary entrepreneur, Xatradhikar of Uzaniyal Xatra Lakhikanta Mahanta, a multifaceted personality who has made significant contributions to sports, entrepreneurship and social life, was felicitated at Gargaon College today.

Distinguished academician and Principal of Gargaon College Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta warmly welcomed Lakhikanta Mahanta and expressed his gratitude for his presence. He also delivered a brief overview of Mahanta’s illustrious life and achievements.

Lakhikanta Mahanta’s remarkable journey began as a teacher and through perseverance and hard work, he established the Industrial Art in Sivasagar, which emerged as a leading manufacturer of sports equipment in Assam.  His innovative design and creation of the ‘Axom Gaurab’ football earned him widespread acclaim. Notably, Mahanta has been actively associated with several social organizations in Sivasagar, demonstrating his commitment to community service.

Lakhikanta Mahanta delivered an inspiring address, recounting his remarkable journey and sharing his fond association with Gargaon College. He offered his warmest wishes to the college community, encouraging them to strive for excellence and reach new heights.

As a token of deep respect and gratitude, Mahanta was felicitated with a ceremonial cheleng sador, gamosa, memento, and books by the college management and staff. The Gargaon College Teachers’ Unit also felicitated him on this occasion. The event was attended by several faculty members and non-teaching staff of the college.
