Haflong: Residents of Maibang, the ancient capital of the Dimasa kingdom and present Head Quarters of Maibang Sub-Division, have renewed their call for a foot-over bridge at Maibang Railway Station, citing concerns for public safety. The various frontal students’ organizations and other conscious citizens have been advocating for this essential infrastructure.
The need for a foot-over bridge is pressing, as several lives have been lost in recent years due to accidents while crossing the railway tracks. The absence of a safe crossing point poses a significant risk to residents including students living on both sides of the railway station. Railway emphasize that safety, security, and punctuality are the primary objectives of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), and a foot-over bridge at Maibang would be a crucial step in achieving these goals in regards to safety of all.
