Assam: Road accident kills one in Kaziranga

Bokakhat: In Kaziranga, a young man lost his life after being struck by an unidentified truck. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning at around 7:30am under the Kohora police outpost on National Highway 37, near the Mayhang Hotel. According to eyewitnesses, a speeding truck mowed down 23-year-old Rohit Patra, a resident of Kohora, who was cycling toward Rongajan on his way to work. Locals rushed the severely injured youth to Kohora Adarsha Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The police sent his body to Golaghat Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination before handing it over to his family. Authorities are still looking for the truck, which escaped the area and is now travelling towards Nagaon.
