KOKRAJHAR: In a joint effort to promote road safety awareness, the Discovery Club of Kokrajhar in collaboration with the District Transport Department (DTO), successfully organized a Road Safety Week beginning on Thursday. The event focused on spreading awareness about the importance of adhering to traffic rules while also emphasizing environmental conservation.

As part of the initiative, saplings were distributed to traffic rule violators, including two-wheeler riders without helmets and car drivers without seat belts. The unique approach of gifting saplings, along with the traditional Assamese Gamosa, served as a symbolic gesture to highlight the value of life and responsibility. The initiative aimed to install a sense of accountability among road users and remind them the importance of following traffic rules for their own safety and that of others.

The saplings, representing life and growth, carried a powerful message encouraging citizens to not only follow traffic regulations but also contribute positively to society by protecting the environment.

The traffic police of Kokrajhar extended their full support to the program, assisting in identifying violators and ensuring smooth execution of the initiative. Their active participation demonstrated a strong commitment to making Kokrajhar's roads safer for all.

Speaking on the occasion, a representative of the Discovery Club said, "Road safety is a shared responsibility, and our unique approach of combining traffic rule awareness with environmental consciousness is aimed at creating à lasting impact. We believe this small gesture will make people think twice before breaking traffic rules and inspire them to value life." The event was well-received by the public, with many appreciating the innovative effort to combine road safety awareness with environmental preservation. The Discovery Club and the District Transport Department expressed gratitude to the traffic police and the community for their support and participation. Through this initiative, the Discovery Club reiterated its commitment to promoting social awareness and fostering a safer, greener, and more responsible community.
