Assam: RPF Dibrugarh Conducts Awareness Drive on Stone-Pelting at Trains

DIBRUGARH: Pavan Kumar, Inspector RPF Dibrugarh, along with officer and staff of RPF/POST/DBRG, conducted an awareness programme today at the villages near the railway track at Bokul Majgaon & Godabahar Gaon in between DBRG-DKM station, regarding stone pelting at running trains.

On January 1, an incident of stone pelting occurred at train No. 20503 after departure from Dibrugarh Railway Station (after crossing LC gate No CS-2) resulting in the outer window glass of berth No. 65 of coach No.B/11 breaking down. A case vide No.01/2025 dated 02.01.2025 u/s 154 Rly Act was registered.

During a raid, one person named Suraj Done (36 years) of Shantipara, West Basbari, Dibrugarh, was apprehended, who confessed that he had thrown stones at the said train on January 1 after he was angered by the horn of train which blew repeatedly.

Accordingly, he was brought to RPF Post DBRG & prosecuted in connection with the above case. Besides prosecution, compensation for the damage will be levied.
